Are you ever tormented by past memories?? It’s for YOU.

The past is no longer ‘real’ but our memories and experiences from our past can come back to haunt us. While we know that it is not a good thing to do to ourselves, it happens to many of us.

Though we know that it is not good to replay the past and project it on our current situation, we still choose to do. It blocks our joy and hurts the current growth.

We need to figure out how to release our grip on the past situation. There can be both good and bad moments in the past. We can honor the love and lessons we learned and try to forget the bad moments. In my opinion, it is better to recognize and value the good times that you had. Love does not need to go away in order for you to commit to someone new. At the same time its not good to dwell in the past while you enjoy the present. Its all about learning to use the lessons you gained from past to enrich your present life.

Recently I came across a book which says ‘To close the past relationship chapter, it will be helpful to have a formal ‘closing ceremony’. we do a lot to celebrate the beginnings of things or relationships, but we are not always as thoughtful to signify the end of things’. We would like to close different chapters in our lives too. You can choose your own way to close. The effective way to deal with this is by meditation on the word of God that tells us that God has forgiven us and no longer hold our sins against us.

Jesus has set me free from my past and washed me clean with His blood so I am free. He has removed my sins as far as the east is from the west, and he said no longer remember my sins.

Later, when the old thoughts and memories come to haunt me in the present, I am able to gently remind myself that old chapter is closed and that I am a better person now because I experienced that lesson.

When we not talk about something we struggle with, it becomes stronger and more powerful in our lives. By sharing our thoughts and concerns out in the open, we can see light in a new direction.Though it might be difficult to talk to your current partner about these fears, it might be wise to talk openly to someone less invested in either relationship, who can help you find the peace you need to bring yourself fully to your present situation.

Again the best option to share your feeling with is JESUS. Before God, call your sin exactly what it is. No explanations and excuses. Bend your knees and confess that this thing is destroying you. Confess “that thing” the specific “thing” for exactly what it is, without reserve and without any kind of justification. (from one book).

No matter how sincerely you confess your sin, and no matter how strongly you decide against your sin, your willpower does not posses the quality and kind of power you need to overcome. you are in desperate need of a power outside of and above yourself to be poured into you.

Simply, the power you need is…… the love of God.

Seek HIM and Use HIM as a source of power over sin 🙂
